yesterday we had a listen to all of our songs that we've recorded and mixed. we had a long talk about a lot of things. when we listened to 'dead' we noticed that the tom sound was cut off. I told Isaac about this and he changed it so the tom sound rang out instead of just cut off straight away. this was ironic as Isaac accidentally deleted my two tom hits right before the breakdown before. once we changed this I was happy with the drum sound. Alex and Isaac were also happy with all of their parts in the song, however Isaac thinks Anthony's vocals need to be re done, whereas I like the sound of his vocals on dead because I think it fits well. we don't have enough time to change his vocals now, as we have to submit the songs later today and Anthony is in Poland so we will probably re do them after our final major project. also Isaac put an enveloper on the kick drum and the snare drum, making them sound a lot better in the mix.

while listening to 'mrs Jane' we decided because it is a great song and sounds pretty well mixed that we should add it to our ep, because why not. we had previously recorded mrs Jane a couple of months ago, which gave Isaac a lot of time to mix and master it. I think this is why it sounds so professional and is great to listen to. I am happy with my drum parts in it and everyone else is happy with their parts.

next we listened to 'I wrote this your bed'. this is a pretty generic song and sounds pretty pop punky, so I'm not as keen on this song, but I think the drum sound is pretty good. Isaac put an enveloper on the kick and floor tom in this song , because the sound captured from the recording was not very good at all. this makes the drum take a lot more full and professional which is good. I think the vocals could be redone for this song after we have submitted the work.

we recorded 'civil war' around the same time as mrs Jane, so again we've spent a lot of time on it. I think this sound is one of my favourites because the ending is pretty heavy and I think the whole song fits perfectly with 'the day I left' (another one of my favourites). again Isaac put an enveloper on the snare and kick because the sound of the college drums isn't that great , even when I tune the drums. in my opinion Isaac did a great job mixing 'civil war' and 'mrs Jane'. the only problem I have with my drums is In the end breakdown they kind of go out of sync or out of time with the rest of the instruments, but somehow goes back in time at the end. I don't think this is a big issue, as a non musician probably couldn't tell anyway, however I can tell and it annoys me so I might have to find out the root cause and re do the take after the fmp.

we then listened to 'the day I left' which might be my favourite to play, as I really like the drum beat I came up with and I like how the drums match up with the bass and guitar in some parts of the song. the hi hat in this drum recording sound pretty hi, even tho it was a 14". this was because I used Anthony's cymbals. they sound better than the other cymbals in some ways, however they were a bit too high for this genre. anyway I think everyone was pleased with the final take of this song.

overall all of the songs are pretty well recorded. I think the quality of mrs Jane and civil war are the best, but we will have time to make the others good after the fmp.
